Number Of Wexford Natives Make It Through To Sigerson Cup Final

At this stage, we’re all aware of how well the Wexford natives are doing in the Fitzgibbon Cup. In the Sigerson Cup, it seems to be a similar story…

Several Wexford natives will be involved this year’s Sigerson Cup final.

Kilanerin club-man and inter-county Wexford footballer Niall Hughes starred at midfield for the college team. Monageer-Boolavogue’s Cathal Walsh, who was lined out at wing back, also helped IT Carlow secure a historic win against Letterkenny IT this evening.

The Clongeen duo of Daryl Murphy and Adam Ryan are also on the IT Carlow panel.

This evening , IT Carlow dramatically defeated Letterkenny IT in the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup colleges semi-final. A 2-09 to 1-09 win, with a last gasp goal, sees IT Carlow advance into the final for the first time in their history.

Meanwhile in the other semi-final, DCU defeated UCD in a clash of the two Dublin colleges.

Next week , IT Carlow will play DCU at 7:30, with a venue still to be confirmed.
