A documentary series entitled ‘Great Lighthouses of Ireland’ was first released on RTE in 2018.
The docuseries is now available to watch on Amazon Prime.
The first lighthouse in the excellent series is none other than Wexford’s historic lighthouse, Hook Lighthouse.
Hook Lighthouse is the oldest operating lighthouse in the world.
The documentary follows how Hook Lighthouse was built 800 years ago, its history, and it’s role in contemporary Ireland.
Hook Lighthouse remains one of the most popular tourist attractions in the county. Polling the Wexford people last summer, Hook Lighthouse made its way into the Top 10 Things To Do In Wexford list.
