Darragh Egan Brings In An Interesting Figure To His Backroom Team

It’s clear that the new Wexford boss is utilising every single Wexford resource available…

The new Wexford manager has brought in Wexford native and former Irish international rugby star, Gordon D’arcy, to his backroom team.

Egan confirmed the news to South East Radio following Wexford’s draw with Kilkenny on Saturday in the Walsh Cup semi-final.

“It’s vital for me number one, I was talking to Billy today again before the match and he’s just a huge support for me and for the players, that they will be working with him as the year progresses,” said Egan, when speaking to South-East Radio after Saturday’s game with Kilkenny.

“Gordon is with us on all match days, he has been absolutely brilliant with us. Very, very good for me. We have that conversation when I’m driving down on a Tuesday evening, we get a good 40 minutes or an hour conversation, just based on the previous weekend and stuff that we can work on,” he continued.

No doubt, from his playing days, D’arcy would be sitting on a wealth of knowledge and this is a shrewd appointment. With one of the most renowned boxing coaches, Billy Walsh, also having a role in the backroom staff, it’s clear that Egan is utilising a lot of resources available to him to get the most out of his team.
