Wexford didn’t claim Allianz League silverware in 2025, but to date it has been a good year for the Wexford footballers…
Last Saturday, the Wexford Senior footballers lost out to Limerick on Saturday in the Allianz League final. After winning seven from seven of their Allianz League football games to reach the final in Croke Park, spirits were high – but they couldn’t get over the line.
Wexford lost out by two points to the Treaty County, but they will have no time to dwell on that loss, with their opening clash in the Leinster Senior Football Championship to take place this weekend.
Here, we’ll go through all you need to know ahead of the clash.
Who are they playing?
Wexford will take on Laois.
When is it on?
It’s on Saturday, April 5th at 6pm.
Where is it on?
It’s a home clash. It’s taking place at Wexford Park.
What’s the Wexford team?

What’s the Laois team?
The Laois team has also been named and can be viewed below.

Where can I get tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online via Ticketmaster. They can also be bought in the usual Supervalu and Centra stores across the county. For those interested in attending the game, ticket prices for this clash have been reduced by €10. Adult tickets were originally priced at €25, but they will now cost €15 for adults.

Is it being broadcast on tv?
No, this match will not be shown live on TV.
What are the betting odds?
Laois enter this clash as favourites, priced at 8/15. Meanwhile, a Wexford victory can be secured at 15/8. The draw is priced at 17/2 in most major bookmakers. Laois play Division 3 of the Allianz Football League, hence their favourites tag – but this game could be closer than the bookies are predicting.
What stages of the competition is this?
It’s the opening round, essentially a preliminary quarter-final. A win for Wexford will see them face Louth the following weekend in Dr Cullen Park, Carlow. A win against Louth in the quarter-final would place them into the Leinster semi-final against either Kildare or Westmeath.
