According to the HoganStand, the Model County have received an injury boost ahead of their Leinster SHC quarter-final against Laois this Sunday.
The Oulart The Ballagh club-man and Wexford sweeper, Shaun Murphy will return to action for Davy Fitzgerald’s charges. Fitzgerald will be delighted with the news, as Murphy has been pivotal in Fitzgerald’s tactics and success with the Model County this year.
Although he remains available, the lack of training time may be a worry and the newly appointed Wexford Senior hurling manager may opt to leave him on the substitutes.
In other news, Mark Fanning who received a gash to his left hand during the training camp in Portugal is expected to return to goal, even though there have been injury doubts about him too. Furthermore, Oylegate’s Damien Reck and St Martins’ Willie Deveraux are 100% out of the clash with the O’Moore County due to ligament and hamstring injuries respectively.
The ever consistent cornerback of James Breen is also struggling to be fit as he recovers from a concussion while having persistent headaches since. According to reports, Breen is unlikely to start the game against Laois.
Long-term absentees Liam Og McGovern, Andrew Shore and Shane Tomkins are all on the verge of returning to action, but the Laois game is expected to come too soon for all three.
Notably, Naomh Eanna’s Padraig Doyle and the young St.Martins duo of Rory O Connor and Conor Firman have lately been called up to the Senior set-up after their terrific performances in the first round of the club championship.
