LISTEN LIVE: Commentary On Fethard Vs John Lockes Leinster JHC Final

“Over 40 years ago Sean Foley and myself organised a game of hurling in a field in Gurtins. 28 people turned up and five had hurleys that looked like swords with so much steel bands around them.”

“The rest of us had beet-sprong handles, blackthorn sticks and William Kelly played in goal with a slash-hook. Six guys checked in to see Dr.Cox on that day.”

“It was the start of hurling in Fethard, and after a long period, we are now in a Leinster final.”

Those were the recent words of Fethard local and GAA member Eamon Tubritt. Now, on Saturday, Fethard will play in the Leinster Junior Hurling final against John Locke’s of Callan in Kilkenny.

Throughout their 2017 Leinster Championship journey, the Wexford club overcame the Dublin and Carlow champions, Eire Isle and Naomh Bríd respectively.

The final, which is sure to be a historic occasion, takes place in Wexford Park at 12 o’clock. And, with thanks to KCLR Radio Station, there will also be live commentary provided for the game.

The online commentary will be brought to you by KCLR’s sports-team, Michael O Leary and Michael Walsh.
