Throwback: Watch Astonishing Declan Ruth Point V Kilkenny In 2005

Fresh from their dramatic Leinster final win against Brian Cody’s Kilkenny in 2004, the Wexford Senior hurlers continued to play with confidence in abundance the following year…

Unfortunately for the Yellowbellies though, they lost the final to Kilkenny on a scoreline of 0-22 to 1-16 and failed to retain the Bob O’Keeffe Cup.

Notably, Wexford fans remember this particular Leinster final for St Martins’ Eoin Quigley’s remarkable over-the-shoulder point which left supporters in awe during the first half.

However, what many Wexford fans fail to remember is the astonishing point by Wexford and Rapparees centre-back, Declan Ruth.

A sublime catch over the head of Eoin Larkin, which ended in the sliotar gliding over the bar after a long-range effort from the sideline on the halfway marker of Croke Park.

Simply wow.
