Watch: Fleetwood Town FC Announce Kevin O’Connor Signing In Hilarious Fashion

Former Curracloe football player Kevin O’Connor has just signed for Fleetwood Town FC on loan from Preston North End.

The 22-year-old left was an integral part of Cork City’s historic domestic double success in 2017.

O’Connor recently gained headlines after he won €1 million after his uncle Peadar Murphy bought him a National lottery ticket – and it is fair to say that the Fleetwood Town social media and marketing team have used his win in their favour.

Speaking to Kevin O’Connor upon signing for Fleetwood Town, he said:

“It’s great to have joined this football club”

“When I heard they were interested, it was a place I wanted to come to and having spoken to Ben Davies – who was on loan here last season – he told me all about it.

“He told me how much of a great club it is, and with the way the gaffer wants to play, it excited me.

“It’s huge to come and play here and with me having a taste in the Championship in a few games, but as a footballer you just want to play.

“For me it is all about confidence and playing week in, week out.”

“I was looking to get the opportunity to get a move here, it’s a forward-thinking club and with the training facilities they have on offer, I am just happy.

“The training ground is unbelievable and it’s better than most league one grounds, and training today was excellent so I am ready to go for the rest of the season.

“The long trip tomorrow will help with me getting to know the players better, and all of the lads have made me feel very welcome.

“They have all came up to me and shook my hands and introduced themselves, I can’t really ask for much more.

“I now want to impress the manager and show him what I can do!”

O’Connor’s new football club currently sit on 13th position of the English League One, and their supporters will be hoping that their new signing will bring some stability to the Cod Army’s defence.
