Causing wide-spread confusion throughout the county, Wexford Senior hurling coach, Seoirse Bulfin, has dismissed rumours that Guiney has been axed from the panel for this reason.

Despite this, he clarified – and confirmed – the rumour that Guiney is no longer apart of Davy Fitzgerlad’s Senior hurling panel.

“Jack at the moment is obviously gone off the panel because he is struggling with an injury right throughout the League,” said Bulfin.

“For the time being, he is back with the club.”

Guiney starred in the centre-back line for his club in the opening round of the Wexford SHC, scoring 1-05 from frees, and dominating proceedings from the beginning.

Speaking at the launch of the Leinster Championship, Bulfin hasn’t ruled out Guiney playing a further part with the Wexford Senior hurlers for 2018:

“Being honest when you have four games in 21 days you can’t really be carrying much of an injury.”

“He is back there to get a bit of game time to see how he gets on. Hopefully down the line you never know what might happen.”
