The Yellowbellies will be seeking revenge for last year’s Leinster Final defeat to the Tribesmen, after losing out to a dominant Galway side by nine points on the day.

Last year’s Leinster Final defeat, however, was the side’s first championship meeting since 2010, a day where the sides faced off in the Leinster quarter-final.

Wexford’s last championship win over Galway came in the famous year of 1996 when they overcame the Tribesmen in the All-Ireland semi-final, before historically defeating Limerick in the final to bring the Liam McCarthy home.

While the Yellowbellies have to date back to 1996 to trace their last championship win against Galway, their last victory against them came just over two months ago in Wexford Park, which is a game they’re sure to take a lot of confidence from entering the eagerly-anticipated tie this Saturday.

LAST FIVE CHAMPIONSHIP MEETINGS:

2017: Galway 0-29 Wexford 1-17 (Leinster final)
2010: Galway 2-22 Wexford 1-14 (Leinster quarter-final)
1996: Wexford 2-13 Galway 3-7 (All-Ireland semi-final)
1976: Wexford 3-14 Galway 2-14 (All-Ireland semi-final) replay
1976: Wexford 5-14 Galway 2-23 (All-Ireland semi-final) (draw)
