The highly anticipated Matchroom bill will take place at the TD Garden in Boston on Saturday, October 20th.

There will be added Irish interest with this card, as Wicklow native Katie Taylor aims to defend her title in the ring against Cindy Cerrano.

We received confirmation that the Gorey Garda turned professional boxer Niall Kennedy would be fighting on the undercard, but until now, no opponent had been set.

Now, we can confirm that Kennedy will be fighting former MMA star turned professional boxer Brutal Brendan Barrett, thanks to a report from IrishBoxing.com.

Currently, 36-year-old New Jersey fighter Barrett owns an undefeated record in boxing.

Similarly, Kennedy’s record in professional boxing is a respectable one, holding an 11-0-1 record, having drawn his previous fight to Joel Caudle.

The upcoming fight against Barrett will be Kennedy’s biggest fight to date – and he’ll be hoping to impress on the bigger stage, as he bids to climb the World-rankings.
