The Wexford Senior Camógie team grabbed headlines in the Camógie world once again on Sunday afternoon…

Wexford were due to play Offaly in the relegation play-off final on Sunday afternoon.

Having traveled to a neutral venue in Parnell’s GAA club in Dublin to play the relegation game, the pitch was deemed unplayable.

Parnell’s 3G pitch was suggested as an alternative venue, however to some confusion, especially in the Offaly camp, the Wexford Camogie set-up refused to play there:

It should come as no surprise that Wexford refused to play on the 3G pitch though, as a lot of the players would not have packed the appropriate footwear, and then, it is a matter of health and safety.

The news will come as a blow to the Offaly camógie team. The Model County will presumably have their returning St Martins contingent for the re-fixture, which would be an added boost for new Wexford Camógie manager, Barry Kennedy.
