Wexford Fighter Niall Kennedy Eases To Victory With First-Round Stoppage

Gorey native Niall ‘Boom Boom’ Kennedy was fighting in Boston last night…

Kennedy fought Mike Marrone on the undercard of Dropkick Murphy’s “4th St Patricks Day” in front of a packed attendance at the House of Boston Blues.

Marrone’s corner threw in the towel after 1 minute 52 seconds during the first round, after their fighter was on the receiving end of some heavy hooks from the Wexford man.

Kennedy, a 6’4 34-year-old, now moves to 13-0-1 and remains undefeated in the professional ranks.

Speaking after the fight, Kennedy said:

“I believe we are going to get a massive fight here very soon. Big fights are around the corner. Thanks a million for the support, it means a lot.”

Now, everyone go get as full as a bingo bus for Paddy’s Day. Up Wexford”

Last night was a win for Kennedy – but he’s aware that it’s nothing more. Despite this, it’s a step in the right direction for his 2019 aims:

“We want big level lads now. We want unbeaten records. We want the top prospects.”

“We want to be in the Top 20 by the end of 2019. I’ve trust in my corner, and trust in Packie to make sure we get there.”
