Enniscorthy CBS’ name made national headlines after the first-year footballer’s heroic 26-point comeback against Colaiste Choilm, which marked their school’s place in the Leinster B Football Final.

But now, it’s Coláiste Abainn who are gaining headlines. Coláiste Abainn were crowned Leinster C Hurling Champions on Monday, after defeating Carlow Combined Schools on a scoreline of 3-14 to 2-06.

It was the school’s “first Leinster hurling victory in over fifteen years”, one of the mentors joyfully stated following the game. The successful u-14 winning team was coached by former Wexford u-21 captain Shane O’Gorman, along with Dean O’Connor and Tom Tynen, who are all teachers at Colaiste Abainn. There was “great work put in with this team since early September and today this was rewarded,” he stated.

Scorers on the day:
Ryan O’Connor (2-01), Eoin Roche (0-05), Jamie Fitzpatrick (1-05) Jack Egan (0-02).
