[Report] Familiar Face Called Into Davy Fitzgerald’s Wexford Hurling Squad

The Wexford Senior hurlers are currently over in Orlando, Flordida..

According to this week’s Wexford People, Wexford Senior hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald has added six new faces to his panel.

One of the most-notable new additions to the current panel of 37 is a familiar face for Wexford hurling fans, as Davidstown-Cortnacuddy’s Andrew Shore has been called into Davy Fitzgerald’s Wexford panel.

Shore has not played inter-county hurling since 2016, and has never played under Fitzgerald’s stewardship with Wexford.

Shore’s best years in the Wexford jersey were from the wing-back position, with 2014 standing out in the minds of many. That year, he played a central role in the Yellowbellies’s memorable season, which saw them knock out the then-reigning All-Ireland champions Clare, managed by Fitzgerald at the time.

Moving forward, the Davidstown-Cortnacuddy clubman could bring another dimension to Fitzgerald’s arsenal, as the Wexford hurlers seek to retain the Bob O’Keeffe Cup – and maybe even attain more – in the upcoming season.

Fitzgerald has added five others to the panel, however, he expects the panel to be cut to 34 over the course of the next few months.
