Bookies Release Their Odds For The First Wexford Vs Kilkenny Match Of The Year

2020 has barely just started and we’ve already a Wexford vs Kilkenny match to look forward to…

Davy Fitzgerald’s Wexford side will take on Kilkenny in their first competitive match of the season this Sunday. The game will take place in Callan, Kilkenny, at 2pm.

Both Wexford and Kilkenny will be missing their full compliment. Injuries, the Fitzgibbon Cup college’s competition, and illnesses has given Fitzgerald a selection-headache ahead of the Walsh Cup semi-final clash. Speaking to the Wexford People last week, Fitzgerald stated that he could be without about 16 of his regular players.

Likewise, Brian Cody will be without the Ballyhale-Shamrocks compliment, who will soon feature in the club All-Ireland final, while he has also ruled out several other key players due to injury, illness, and work commitments.

Within that, emerges a great opportunity for fringe players to stake a claim on the team and on both panels. It’s a great opportunity for the likes of Kevin O’Grady and Michael Furlong for example, who were reportedly drafted in to the Senior hurling panel after leaving Galvin’s football panel.

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has since released their odds ahead of the Walsh Cup semi-final clash:

Kilkenny 8/11

Draw 8/1

Wexford 13/10

Despite the fact that both sides will be without their full compliment, it is without doubt that the teams will be out to win, aiming to lay down a marker for the new season.
