Wexford Woman Ciara Completes 100,000 Steps In One Day For Frontline Workers

Ciara Tomkins from Gorey has completed 100,000 steps in one day in order to raise funds for our front-line workers…

The Wexford woman completed a total of 73.61km.

Ciara, a member of Gorey Rugby Club, started at 4am on Saturday morning and finished just before 9pm on Saturday evening.

Martin Long, a personal trainer from Dublin, came up with the idea of doing 100,000 steps in 24 hours to raise money for our hospitals during the Covid-19 crisis. Each person taking part was set the challenge of running or walking 100,000 steps in 24 hours.

The group of individuals from around the country, including Ciara, have now raised just under €6,000. All money raised will go to our front-line staff in the worst affected hospitals.

To contextualise, the 72km is the equivalent to Castletown to Gusserane. If you could support the cause, you can donate to the GoFundMe here.
