Wexford’s Larry Murphy Compares Davy Fitz To Klopp And Liam Griffin

Former Wexford hurling star Larry Murphy knows his stuff..

Speaking recently to the Irish Mirror, the former Wexford player compared Davy Fitzgerald’s managerial style to some well-known national and international figures.

Murphy compared Fitzgerald’s style to Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, 1996 All-Ireland winning manager Liam Griffin, and Limerick hurling manager, John Kiely.

“Davy is the same sort of inspirational character, I can see his energy and I can see his love for the game and his attention to detail. They’re all the attributes that good managers possess but he probably has that little extra X factor too.”

“They would be prepared to go through walls for him and we were the very same with Liam Griffin when we were playing.”

“You’re talking about those managers who have that something extra. You can see the same thing with Klopp at Liverpool and you see it with some of the rugby managers.”

“John Kiely with Limerick is of the same mould, the stories I hear of how he goes about his business and how he inspires players have been hair raising to be honest.”
