Wexford’s Aidan O’Brien Lands Wednesday Across The Card Treble

Aidan O’Brien landed an across the cards treble after winning races at Royal Ascot, Limerick and Gowran Park on Wednesday…

The Wexford man plenty of big runners at Royal Ascot and it was Russian Emperor who was first past the post at 100/30 in the Hampton Court Stakes at the Berkshire venue.

Russian Emperor, with Ryan Moore in the saddle, beat off the Queen’s horse ‘First Receiver’ with all-time great Frankie Dettori on board.

“He’s a really nice colt and he’s got a lovely attitude. His dam was very good, she was a champion in Australia,” winning jockey Moore said following the race.

O’Brien also had a winner at Gowran Park. Laburnum was sent off the 2/1 favoruite and proved worthy of the odds winning strongly in the end beating Ger Lyons’ Thunder Kiss by almost 2 lengths.

The third winner of the day for the Ballydoyle maestro came at Limerick. This time it was Eden Quay with Wayne Lordan in the saddle. This horse wasn’t the favourite in the race but showed that odds should have been shorter than the 9/2 it went off at.

It’s not the first good day at the races for Aidan O’Brien and it certainly won’t be the last either.
