Over 5 million euro worth of drugs were seized in Wexford today…
Drugs with an estimated value of €5.54m has been seized by revenue officers in Co Wexford. The drugs came from Bilbao in Spain and were intercepted following a routine search at Rosslare Europort earlier this morning.
It has now emerged that 277 kg of herbal cannabis was seized with the assistance of Revenue’s mobile X-ray scanner.
“Earlier this morning, as a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers seized 277kgs of herbal cannabis at Rosslare Europort. The drugs, with an estimated value of €5.54 million, were discovered when an unaccompanied trailer that had arrived into Rosslare from Bilbao, Spain was selected for examination. These routine operations are part of Revenue’s ongoing work targeting drug smuggling and shadow economy activity. It has been reported that the cannabis was sealed in packages placed into fruit and then into a container.
