Despite an announcement following last month’s Wexford County Board meeting, it now looks like the €20 Wexford GAA weekend pass pay no longer be feasible…
“It was also agreed that a full weekend ticket, purchasable at usual retail partners, will be introduced for the 2020 championship at a price of €20. This ticket will offer entry to all championship matches in a particular weekend,” Wexford GAA said on June 17th 2020.
Less than one month after, it now looks like the €20 Wexford GAA weekend pass is no longer a feasible option.
This is due to the limited attendances that are allowed to enter games. After July 20th, 500 people will be permitted to attend outdoor events, a guideline set by the HSE that the GAA must abide by.
As Wexford have close to 800 season ticket holders alone, the introduction of a new ticket plan which would hope to increase crowds isn’t something that is feasible during the current climate and with the current restrictions still in place:
“Whatever emerges in the coming fortnight it is clear that the first weekend’s matches will be all ticket events and that the previously proposed “weekend pass” ticket will not be feasible unless there is a significant increase in permitted capacity. Again, season ticket holders will contacted once full information has been finalised by Friday July 10th,” Wexford GAA said.
Wexford GAA are hoping for clarification on this matter — but it seems like the €20 weekend pass is off the table for the time being.
Meanwhile, in some more positive news, Wexford GAA are hoping to introduce live-streaming of at least two championship matches weekly as the season soon commences.
The news was announced at last week’s County Board Meeting.
