DoneDeal Are Banning All New Dog Adverts Due To Rising Dog Thefts

DoneDeal are banning all new adverts for dogs on their website..

The news comes following a sharp rise in dog thefts nationwide.

Dogs, which are being stolen from houses and gardens, can then be resold on advertising websites such as DoneDeal and Gumtree.

The stolen dogs are also used for breeding purposes.

When a user of the DoneDeal website tries to access their website to view the dogs for sale, they are now met with the page ‘sorry, we couldn’t find what you’re looking for.’

“DoneDeal take our responsibilities as an advertising platform very seriously and will continue to introduce measures to further improve animal welfare and advertising transparency in Ireland. As we work on further solutions to improve animal welfare and in light of unprecedented demand in Ireland we have taken the decision to temporarily suspend the dogs section from 7th August 2020,” a spokesperson for DoneDeal said.

DoneDeal are hoping that a solution can be found so that people can utilise their advertising website effectively once again.
