Wexford Nursing Home Resident Passes Away After Contracting Covid-19

A nursing home patient has sadly passed away after contracting Covid-19…

Kerlogue Nursing Home, a nursing home based in Wexford town, has confirmed the sad news that one of their residents has passed away after contracting Covid-19 recently.

“We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of a resident from COVID 19. Our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this difficult time. Following a comprehensive round of COVID 19 testing amongst staff and residents, Kerlogue can confirm that 102 out of 104 staff have tested negative. Two staff members await results. All our residents who were tested on Tuesday have not received test results as of 5pm today. We are frustrated that our vulnerable community has not been given the highest priority within the HSE, considering the severity of the infection.”

“We continue to maintain intensive vigilance and implement heightened infection control measures, to protect our residents and staff. We take great pride in providing care to 89 residents at Kerlogue nursing home and employ 104 essential staff to meet the care needs of all of our residents.”

“We thank residents and their families for their patience and understanding at this difficult time and express our appreciation to all staff for their continued excellent dedication to care,” a statement read.

At Wexford Weekly, we would like to express our deepest sympathies to this person’s family and friends at this tough time.
