Wexford Now Have A New Senior Football Manager

Paul Galvin will no longer be managing the Wexford Senior footballers…

Paul Galvin has resigned from his post as Wexford Senior Football manager, where, in a brief statement, he noted that time commitments and a significant growth in his business were the main factors behind the Kerry-man’s decision.

“Due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Dublin, my family has move back to the west of Ireland I am stepping away from my role with Wexford due to the new time and commitments involved. My business has also undergone significant growth in the past few months and needs attention. I have enjoyed the past 16 months watching, coaching and promoting football in the county. I would like to thank the Wexford County Board for the opportunity and support. Thank you to the players and backroom staff also. I have strong belief in the talent in the county. I wish everybody associated with Wexford football success in the near future,” Galvin’s statement read.

Wexford-man Shane Roche will be stepping in as Interim Wexford Football manager in Galvin’s absence. Roche, who is respected in Wexford footballing circles, was also involved in the Wexford set up with Galvin, while many will also remember him for his career with the Wexford Senior footballers.

It is unclear who Wexford will seek now to replace Galvin — but it is great to see the County Board placing their faith in Roche, even if it is just for the time being.
