Staff Member Tests Positive For Coronavirus In Gorey School

A staff member has tested positive for Covid-19 in a Gorey school…

Four schools across Wexford have now confirmed positive Covid-19 cases and it’s interesting to note that the four major towns; Wexford, Enniscorthy, New Ross, and now Gorey have all registered a positive case.

A national school in New Ross recently confirmed a positive case. This news was followed by the Loreto Secondary School, based on Pembroke Street in Wexford town, then confirming that a student in their school also tested positive for coronavirus.

Colaiste Bride, an all-girls in Enniscorthy, have also confirmed that one of their fifth-year students has tested positive for the virus.

Now, it has emerged that a staff member of Gorey Educate National Together School has tested positive for Covid-19.

The principal of the school issued a letter today to parents notifying them of a staff member’s positive Covid-19 test result:

“A staff member who works with your child’s class received a positive Covid-19 test this afternoon. The staff member did not attend the school in recent days and they will remain at home until the date given to them by the HSE,” the letter reads.

The letter from the principal stated that school will remain open and that “no one at the school is considered a close contact,” thus, classes can continue to operate as normal.

Meanwhile, five additional Covid-19 cases were confirmed across Wexford today following this evening’s announcement.
