Proud Moment For Wexford General Hospital With Their First Ever Water-Birth

This was a proud moment for the staff at Wexford General Hospital..

Wednesday November 25 was a day filled with pride for the Midwifery team at Wexford General Hospital. It is a date that will go down in the history books after Wexford General’s Midwifery team succeeded in delivering a baby from a water-birth for the very first time.

Some benefits of water-births include a reduction of labor pain, no need for an anaesthesia, a decrease in the duration of the labor, increased control for the pregnant woman, and a reduction in perineal trauma.

Baby Emily was born and both baby Emily and her mother Emma are doing well.

A huge well done to all the Midwifery staff at Wexford General Hospital for following evidenced-based research, for facilitating this at the hospital, and for creating an additional option for pregnant women across the county to avail of.
