A breakdown of the Covid-19 figures has been released..
There has been a rise in Covid-19 figures recently.
56 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Wexford today which pushes Wexford’s incidence 14-day rate up to the second highest in the country.
Wexford’s 14-day incidence rate is now 291.9 per 100k, the second highest in the country behind Donegal. The 14-day incidence rate for Ireland is 166.6, which shows just how high Wexford’s rate is.
437 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed across Wexford in the previous two weeks.
Information from the Department of Health on Ireland’s Covid-19 Data Hub which looks at Covid-19 data from the 08 December to 21 December shows that the New Ross Local Electoral Area is a hot-spot for Covid-19.
New Ross: 183
New Ross LEA, with 183 cases from 08 December to 21 December, translates to 659.7 cases per 100,000. This compares with the national average of 138.2 from the same two-week period .
Interestingly, the Gorey LEA, which was considered a hot-spot for Covid-19 activity in mid-October, is now the area of Wexford which boasts the ‘best’ incidence rate with the lowest number of Covid-19 cases.
With the Festive period incoming and with people socialising, spikes are expected to continue. The news comes just after the Irish Government have increased restrictions for the Festive period which could last into February and March.
We encourage everyone to stay safe over the Christmas period. Together, we will get though this.
