New Ross LEA In Wexford Has Highest Covid-19 Incidence Rate In Ireland

A new breakdown of the Covid-19 figures has been released..

Wexford’s 14-day incidence rate is now 390.1 per 100k, the fifth highest in the country behind Monaghan, Donegal, Louth and Limerick.

The current 14-day incidence rate for Ireland now stands at 296.7.

Information from the Department of Health on Ireland’s Covid-19 Data Hub which looks at Covid-19 data from the 15 December to 28 December shows that the New Ross Local Electoral Area is a hot-spot for Covid-19.

New Ross: 277

New Ross LEA, with 277 cases from 15 December to 28 December, translates to 998.6 cases per 100,000. This compares with the national average of 245.6 from the same two-week period (15 Dec – 28 Dec).

With an incidence rate of 998.6 per 100k, the New Ross Local Electoral Area has the highest Covid-19 incidence rate in the country. The New Ross LEA incidence rate is four times higher than the national average.

Other areas of high concern across the Republic of Ireland include Ballybay-Clones, Co Monaghan with an incidence rate of 707, Buncrana, Co Donegal with 679.6 per 100k, and the Kenmare LEA of Co Kerry, with 670.3 per 100k.
