Major Blow For Wexford Footballers As Central Player Walks Away From Set-Up

The Wexford Senior Footballers have been dealt a major blow for the year…

Castletown club-man Johnathan Bealin has walked away from the Wexford Senior Football squad for the upcoming year.

The Castletown player was a central figure in Wexford’s campaign last year.

It has been reported that he has opted to work abroad for the year, which means he cannot commit to Shane Roche’s set-up.

As per a report in The Irish Times, the 28 year-old works with biopharmaceutical company, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and he aims to do some travelling with his partner Michelle while in Belgium on the work opportunity.

No doubt, the news will come as a major blow to new Wexford manager Shane Roche and his crop of Wexford Senior Footballers who are seeking promotion from the Division 4 Allianz Football League.

Wexford start their league campaign on May 22nd against Waterford at Wexford Park.

In this year’s Leinster Championship, Wexford have been drawn against Wicklow in the first-round. The winner of the Wexford and Wicklow game will face seven-in-a-row All-Ireland champions, Dublin.
