A new walk-in Covid-19 test centre will be in operation in Wexford for tomorrow.

The test centre, which is located at the Whitemill site in Wexford, will be in operation from Friday 7th May and it is open to anyone over the age of sixteen.

Those interested in getting a Covid-19 test do not need a GP referral or n appointment. This is a temporary structure and it will remain in place for seven days. The facility will open Friday, at 10 am and will remain open until 6 pm.

Councillors such as Cathal Byrne has made a call for the test centre to be moved to a more central location in Wexford, such as Enniscorthy:

“I remain strongly of the opinion that this test center ought to be in Enniscorthy as the center of the County, but so far my representations have fallen on deaf ears,” he said.

At the time of writing, Wexford has the third-lowest incidence rate of Covid-19 in the country. Wexford’s incidence rate remains low, and while these pop-up structures are usually placed in high-incidence areas, it has been pointed out that the aim of the Wexford test centre is to pick up asymptomatic cases.
