Wexford GAA Chairman Seeks Apology From Brian Lohan Following ‘Inacurate’ Comments

Wexford GAA Chairman is seeking an apology and a retraction from Brian Lohan following his recent comments… Error, group does not exist! Check your syntax! (ID: 2)

After Clare’s win over Laois on Sunday, Clare manager Brian Lohan spoke to the media where he stated that Clare was “contacted by the HSE to say that two of the Wexford players nominated two of our players as close contacts.”

Wexford GAA released a statement today:

“Wexford GAA wish to address the comments made by Clare Senior Hurling Manager Brian Lohan on Sunday May 23rd. The suggestion made that members of Wexford GAA had somehow nominated Clare players as close contacts is factually incorrect.”

“Wexford GAA have again spoken to HSE South East this morning and this position can be independently verified by HSE. Wexford GAA will continue to work through the protocols as requested by HSE.”

Along side that, Wexford GAA Chairman spoke to South East Radio:

“I am not sure what is going on in relation to Brian Lohan’s comments other than to say they are completely and factually inaccurate, incorrect, and very disappointed to have to address them this morning. I would think they are ill-informed. Quite frankly, I think they are outrageous comments by Brian Lohan,” Martin said on South East Radio.

“I note last weekend, for example, the Limerick hurling manager made comments in the heat after a match, and apologised and retracted them the following Tuesday. I would hope something similar would happen in this regard. “Comments can be made after a match, emotions can run high, but when dealing with things like this, there is an onus to have a degree of accuracy in what you are saying and to make comments about our players that are inaccurate, I can’t allow that to happen,” he continued.

To say the least, it is an interesting story developing and only time will tell if Clare manager Brian Lohan will retract his comments.
