Full time:

Carlow 2-12

Wexford 2-11

__

In a highly entertaining game, it was Shane Roche’s Wexford Senior Footballers who came out on the wrong side of the result at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Two quick goals from Wexford’s Sean Nolan and Liam Coleman early in the second half had Wexford leading Carlow by five points on a scoreline of 1-06 to 2-08.

However, Carlow never went away and they clawed their way back into the game.

It took a last-gasp point by Carlow’s Darragh Foley to secure a one-point victory for Carlow in a highly entertaining game which finished with the Barrowside men winning on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-11.

Niall Carew’s Carlow have remained unbeaten in the Allianz League and following today’s result, they have topped the Division 4 South Allianz Football League table. Meanwhile, Wexford have finished in last place after losses to both Waterford and Carlow.

In both games in this year’s campaign, Wexford lost by the minimum.

Today’s result means that Wexford are out of the Allianz Football League promotion race for yet another year and that their full attention can now turn to the Leinster Championship, where they will face Wicklow in the opening round.
