Young Wexford Motorcyclist Who Was In Critical Condition Passes Away

A young man from Wexford has passed away after he was involved in a motorcycling accident…

The man, who has been named locally as 22-year-old Finlay Power, was in critical condition following the accident, but he has since passed away.

Mr Power volunteered with the Civil Defence and was popular across both the Gorey and Wexford community.

The tragic accident occurred on the N2, Edmonstown, in County Louth on Saturday last.

A spokesperson for the Gardai confirmed the news this morning and noted that they are appealing to witnesses to come forward.

“The male motorcyclist (22 years) who was in a critical condition from injuries sustained in a serious road traffic collision on the N2, Edmonstown, Co Louth, on Saturday, 11th September, 2021, has since passed away. 

“Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

“Any road users who were travelling on the N2 in the townland of Edmonstown, Louth on Saturday evening 11th September between 8pm and 8:30pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to Gardai.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ardee Garda Station on 041 6853222, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”

Tributes have poured in for the young man from the Hollyfort area of Gorey, who was very well-respected throughout the community.
