Wexford Fantasy Football Fan Shares His Thoughts Ahead Of The Double Gameweek

Welcome to the very start of the run-in, in both the Premier League and Fantasy Premier League…

In this column, Wexford native Aaron Boyse, who is an avid supporter of Fantasy Football will share his thoughts on the upcoming Premier League games.

With that said, we are going to focus on the next two weeks, as Round 26 starts off on Friday 19th and finishes Thursday 24th. Round 27 then kicks off on Friday 25th.

THE BIG BOYS:

Round 26 is a bumper weekend for eight teams. Burnley FC, Tottenham, Watford, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Leeds United, Arsenal and Wolves all play twice this weekend. If I were to recommend a number of double game week players to have in your Fantasy Premier League side this weekend, I would recommend at least 7 to 8 players total.

For example, for ‘The Big Boys’ I personally have the likes of: Aaron Ramsdale and Kieran Tierney of Arsenal. Sergio Reguilon and Lucas Moura of Tottenham. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah of Liverpool. To round it out, I currently have Joshua King of Watford.

OH BURNLEY IS WONDERFUL:

Burnley FC as The Inbetweeners movie quoted is wonderful. Especially, for the next two weeks, maybe not beyond. Firstly, if you are considering Burnley FC players for your side in the next two weeks, I would not recommend any from their backline. Burnley FC are not solid at the back like they used to be back in the day.

I would recommend looking ahead from midfield forward.

Since coming in from Lyon on 29th August, Maxwel Cornet, the Ivory Coast international has been a shining light. 57 total points for Burnley in FPL has made him a wanted man in Fantasy, even with being away at AFCON in January.

There are two strikers for Burnley I would recommend. One is the perennial Jay Rodriguez who has 29 points to date and is priced at 5.2. The other is recently brought in Wout Weghorst from Vfl Wolfsburg, who has hit the ground ‘jogging’.

CONCLUSION:

The double game weeks are here, and possibly with the FA Cup and Club World Cup either coming to an end or ending, the double’s are here to stay. Chelsea are definitely one side who will have two games in a Round of matches upcoming too, which is worth noting. The double game week is here, so choose wisely.
