Confirmed: Davy Fitzgerald Has A New Senior Hurling Managerial Gig

A former Wexford hurling manager will take over the Waterford Senior Hurling team…

The Waterford managerial position became vacant at the end of the inter-county season after Liam Cahill opted out of the set-up and then joined Tipperary.

Waterford GAA were then on the lookout for a new manager, and they have now found their man with Davy Fitzgerald.

It has been confirmed that Fitzgerald has been ratified as the new Waterford Senior Hurling manager by the Waterford GAA executives.

He has been ratified for two years with the option of a third, which will be confirmed at a follow-up Waterford GAA County Board meeting.

Fitzgerald was manager of the Wexford Senior hurling team from 2016 to 2021, before stepping down and leading the way for Darragh Egan to come on board.

Fitzgerald was coaching the Cork Camogie team for the past year, but he has since vacated that position as he told the manager that it was always just a one-year role.

It will be the second time that Fitzgerald has managed Waterford, previously managing the team from 2008 to 2011.
