Member of Wexford Senior Hurling backroom team leaves set-up

It’s the end of a chapter for a highly-regarded member of the Wexford Senior hurling backroom team…

Graham Byrne was the Head of strength & conditioning, and nutrition with the Wexford Senior hurling team.

He was involved with the Wexford Senior hurlers for three seasons.

Byrne replaced Mike Frawley in the role after Mike left his position in 2019 to take up a role with the Westmeath Senior hurling team.

He replaced Frawley following Wexford’s successes in 2019 and he remained in the role since. Byrne was brought in by former manager Davy Fitzgerald, but he has also been a key member of the backroom staff for the last year under new manager, Darragh Egan.

In a post published onto the LinkedIn network, Byrne highlighted that the group was an incredible one to work with – but that it is the “end of another chapter” in his career.

“An incredible group who left no stone unturned in pursuit of success. Hope I’ve left it in a better place,” he stated.

There’s no doubt that Byrne has left the the county in a better place.

Another member of the backroom staff, renowned boxing coach and Wexford native Billy Walsh, thanked Byrne for his tireless work in the background.
