Wexford Festival Opera’s “Volunteer Of The Year” Has Been Named

Long-time volunteer Ethna Ryan was named as Wexford Festival Opera’s 2022 ‘Volunteer of the Year’ in partnership with Ecclesiastical on Monday night at the first Public Dress Rehearsal of the 2022 Festival…

Ethna was awarded after a public vote by fellow volunteers, board and staff of the Festival and was presented with the award by Artistic Director, Rosetta Cucchi and Head of Relationship Management at Ecclesiastical, Scott Hayes, on stage in front of an audience of mainly fellow volunteers at the Public Dress Rehearsal for this year’s opening opera, La Tempesta.

Ethna has supported Wexford Festival Opera for over 20 years. She started her volunteering journey with Wexford working on the Lunchtime Recitals Programme and has since supported many areas, including selling programmes at the evening operas and various hospitality roles looking after many Festival guests and friends.

Ethna is very well-known and popular among the Festival’s volunteers and staff, as well as the wider Wexford community, who helped her celebrate her 80th birthday last year. She is a very valued member of the Wexford Festival family and so it is only fitting that we would celebrate and honour her through this award.
