Wexford’s Heather Picks Up Gold Medal At International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championships

Gorey’s Heather Doyle made the trip to Lazio in Rome this week…

Heather ventured over to Italy’s capital to compete in the International Open – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championships.

On Friday, Doyle was crowned European Champion, picking up the gold medal in her weight class and division.

Doyle, who trains out of Richie Ivory’s Gym in Gorey and is a member of the Carlson Gracie Team walked away with the gold medal, submitting a number of opponents five times along the way to championship victory.

She won the adult female, lightweight division, competing at blue belt at no-gi.

In second place came Anna-Isabella Hijman, while Gioia Sabrina Konrad and Yvonne Angela O’Connell came in joint-third.
