Young Gorey Man Called Into Ireland U-20’s Six Nations Squad

A young Gorey native, George Hadden, has been selected on the Ireland Under-20’s Six Nations squad for the upcoming Under-20’s Six Nations rugby championship…

George spent many years plying his trade in the local Gorey Rugby Football Club under the tutelage of some fantastic underage coaches. His current club is Clontarf in Dublin. His preferred position at the moment is loosehead prop.

George has shown real promise, with many fine displays in Gorey Rugby club as a teen which caught the eye of South-East selectors for the Leinster regional competition the Shane Horgan cup.

South-East teams have a vast pedigree and reputation as the best region in Leinster when it comes to this competition with a fantastic win ratio and some Championship wins. The South-East are a great nurturing ground for some fantastic players with the likes of Sean O’Brien and Tadgh Furlong having played for the South-East teams.

George excelled even in a competitive squad and earned a call-up to Leinster u-19 ranks and then later brought great pride to the Gorey club by earning a fully deserved Ireland Under-19 cap. George is known for being a teak tough loosehead prop, a good scrummager, great lineout lifts, bone-crunching tackles and especially rampant surges up the middle of the pitch on the attack. George has full potential to start in the opening match and it will be a memorable day for his family, friends, relations and all in Gorey rugby club when he does earn his first Under-20 cap.

For the young man himself, this is what rugby dreams are made of, to continue to represent your country at such a high level. He is a man of our own county and we are mighty proud of him for achieving his Ireland squad place. We wish him all the very best.
