Gorey Rangers Through To Semi-Final Stages Of FAI Junior Cup After 2-1 Victory

Gorey Rangers are through to the semi-final stages of the FAI Junior Cup…

Gorey Rangers were victorious against Galway’s Colga FC at Ramstown this afternoon.

The Wexford side, and the only remaining Wexford representatives in the competition, won the FAI Junior Cup quarter-final on a score-line of 2-1.

Gorey Rangers started the game off well; an early goal came from Paul Brennan which put the Gorey side in the driving seat straight away.

A mistake at the heart of Colga FC’s defence set up attacker Cormac Breslin for the second goal, who hit a sweet half-volley strike from outside of the box into the back of the net to the delight of the large Gorey Rangers crowd in attendance.

Colga FC had their chances and they were deserving of their second-half goal, who were dominant for large spells of the second-half, but the Wexford side will be delighted that they were able to withstand the pressure.

Some of the top performers for Gorey Rangers were Ryan Cullen, Stephen Moloney, and Ethan Vickers.

Gorey Rangers will also be delighted that their semi-final will also be at home, although it will be played at a different venue in Wexford.

They will be playing St Michaels of Tipperary in the semi-final stages of the competition after the Tipperary side defeated Donegal’s Buncrana Hearts FC today.
