St Martins U-16 Team To Shave Heads In Support Of Teammate Battling Cancer

There’s certainly a lot of team spirit within this group…

The St Martins u-16 hurling team will all be shaving their heads in support of their team-mate, who is currently battling cancer.

Their team-mate, Evan Jones, is a fifteen-year old who is battling cancer and the underage team will get together in a special fundraiser in support of the team ‘Team Evan Fund’ with all funds raised going towards this.

For the last two years, Evan has successfully made the U15 and U16 county football development squad and just this year was put forward for trials with the Wexford Minor Football team.

Unfortunately, his chances with the Minor squad were cut short when he was cruelly diagnosed with a brain tumour shortly after Christmas 2022.

Evan’s diagnosis came as a huge shock to his family and everyone in the community; none more so than his close-knit teammates from St. Martin’s.

The community of Piercestown has rallied around our young chap; all eager to play our part in supporting Evan and his family on the long road ahead.

The head-shave will take place on April 22 at 8:30 pm in the St Martins Club House. There will also be a raffle and an auction taking place on the night to help raise additional funds.

Along side the head-shave, the Barbelle Gym will attempt to complete the infamous Hell and Back outdoor adventure course to raise vital funds for Team Evan.

To support Evan, you could donate to the ‘Hell and Back’ GoFundMe at this attached link.
