A Wexford man took home a medal from the recent Taekwondo Championships…
Kilmore man, Billy Winters, won a silver medal at the 2023 European Taekwondo Championships, Romania.
Billy’s win felt extra special for him, after a tough weeks for him personally.
Just three weeks previous, Winters’ Master of 9 years passed away. Master Patrick O’Rourke VIII RIP Wexford TKD was due to travel out to Romania with the Irish Team, but he unfortunately didn’t get to travel.
His student Billy travelled out with the Irish Team last Monday.
He was competing against 30 countries from across Europe. Billy won the silver on Friday morning 28th April after an flawless performance in the first round.
He then went through into the 2nd round alongside Poland and Romania. Billy came away with second to the Romanian.

Billy is the first Irish competitor to take home silver for Power to Ireland, going one step further than last year, having took the bronze medal back to Wexford in 2022.
