Bookies release their betting odds for the Wexford and Kilkenny clash

The Wexford v Kilkenny match will take place this weekend…

A loss against Kilkenny, along with a win for Antrim against Westmeath, would see Wexford relegated to the Joe McDonagh Cup for the following season.

The major Irish bookmakers including PaddyPower and Boylesports have released their odds for the upcoming clash.

Despite being away from home, Kilkenny will go into the match as 4/9 favourites. A Wexford win can be got at 9/4, while the draw can be secured at 9/1.

The handicap for the match is -3 / +3.

The Leinster hurling championship matches between the two rivals have always been close encounters in recent times. Wexford seem to have the upper-hand over Kilkenny in recent matches, but the bookmakers could be forgiven for making Kilkenny favourites for this game, given Wexford’s poor League and Championship performances.

To note, the match will not be shown on RTE or on the GAAGo platform.

It means that the only way to watch this match will be to actually attend the game in Chadwicks Wexford Park.

Both Tom Dempsey and Keith Rossiter have encouraged Wexford fans to arrive in large numbers, for a match that is being dubbed as important – if not more important – than Wexford’s All-Ireland final in 1996.

It’s a huge game for the Wexford Senior hurling team, and although their season has ended in terms of further progression into the All-Ireland stages, there’s arguably a much bigger stake on this weekend’s game now as it could see Wexford regress even further.
