Strong Wexford Contingent To Partake In Upcoming Fitzgibbon Weekend

The Fitzgibbon Cup weekend gets underway this weekend and there’s a number of Wexford natives competing worth keeping an eye on.

The Fitzgibbon cup, also known as ‘college hurling’ or ‘higher-education hurling’ will be played this Saturday, Feb 24th in Mallow at 3pm.

This year, the final of the Fitzgibbon cup will be played between the University of Limerick and Dublin City University, and each year, it’s a game that attracts national attention from supporters of all corners.

Being broadcasted live on TG4 at 3pm,  there are five Wexford natives worth keeping a watchful eye on as DCU aim to claim their first-ever piece of silverware in the historic competition.

Wexford wing-back Paudie Foley (Crossabeg-Ballymurn), his younger brother Oisín Foley (Crossabeg-Ballymurn) and Wexford senior inter-county panellists Joe O’Connor (St Martins), Aaron Maddock (St Martins) and Darren Byrne (Blackwater) are all featured on the programme.
