About Us

Wexford Weekly is an independent local sports, news, and entertainment website…

Launched in January 2017 by Wexford native Jason Redmond, Wexford Weekly has quickly become one of the go-to places for local Wexford news, Wexford sports news, Wexford entertainment, and information online.

Wexford Weekly is more than a Facebook page, a Twitter page, or a website. Wexford Weekly is a growing brand. In 2019, Wexford Weekly brought 250+ Wexford supporters on buses to Wexford’s successful Leinster Hurling final, which was followed by another trip to Croke Park for the All-Ireland semi-final against Tipperary. In 2020, we travelled to Croke Park once again for Wexford’s NHL encounter versus Dublin.

Not just that, but we’ve also been supporting local charities and GoFundMe’s in the locality and it’s something, that as a community page, we hope to continue doing. As a community page, we’ve completed a successful #Covid19AllStar campaign during the Coronavirus pandemic, we have fostered new up-and-coming Irish talent through our new #WexfordWeeklyLIVE series, we ran a WW FIFA tournament in support of a young Wexford girl battling leukaemia, while we’ve also ran the #WexfordWeeklyWexfordsBest campaign which sought to find the best of everything throughout Wexford by allowing people to vote in social media polls before we counted up the votes and collated an article, which in turn, acted as excellent free promotion for local Wexford businesses.

Right now, we’re confident that if you ask any Wexford person about Wexford Weekly, they’d be able to tell you about it.

In 2020, our presence on social media continued to grow. 2020 also marked a period where we launched and trialled our annual subscription package for premium content. Although an interesting venture, it proved to be quite difficult to maintain as an independent news site – and since then, we have reverted back to all of our content being available for free online on our website. In the future, we may look at re-introducing paid subscriptions for more-original content and interview pieces.

The introduction of annual subscriptions onto our site had coincided with our introduction of some new paid columnists to Wexford Weekly. They include Wexford natives of Aidan Delaney, Darragh Sinnott, Luke Bradley, Byron Jones, and Adam Connor who regularly write insightful and opinionated pieces along with interview pieces with local Wexford people.

In 2024, we brought Fionn O’Callaghan on board to do ‘fan reaction’ videos outside of Wexford hurling matches during the Leinster Senior hurling championship. His first video received over 100,000 views across Wexford Weekly’s social media channels.

Now with over 28,200 followers on Facebook, over 7400 followers on Twitter, and newly-created Instagram (2200) and TikTok (1000) accounts, the Wexford Weekly brand is out in the community more now than ever before.

We are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us and for the world of digital media. We hope that you continue this journey with us and please remember, this would not be possible without you engaging, so thank you for your continued support.
