16-year-old Festy Ebosele started off with Moyne Rangers, then progressed to St Joseph’s Schoolboys before making a step-up to Bray Wanderers.

Speaking to The Independent following Festy’s signing, Moyne Rangers’ Chairman Kevin Lawlor reckons it’s little of a surprise that he’s been picked up by an English club:

“He played under-12 and under-13 with us and he did stand out,’ he said. ‘I had the privilege of managing him myself and I remember the last game he played for us was a cup final against Gorey Rangers.

“He was absolutely outstanding. He scored a hat-trick and we won 4-1. He was unplayable. Some of the local reporters said it was the finest schoolboy performance they had ever seen!”

In a fitting post to their social media, Moyne Rangers PRO said:

Our former player, Festy Ebosele, putting pen to paper on his 3 year contract with Derby County with his proud parents looking on. Moyne Rangers would like to congratulate Festy and his parents on Festy signing his contract and wish him every success in his footballing career with Derby County.

According to The Independent, Moyne Rangers will be given some compensation as part of the deal, as a thank you for nurturing his talents and helping him progress on the football field.
