We’ll be able to travel beyond our 5km restrictions from Monday…
People will be able to travel beyond their 5km zone from Monday onwards. It has now been clarified that from Monday, the public will be allowed to travel anywhere within their own county.
The public will also be allowed to travel up to 20km outside of the county. The 20km perimeter should be maintained when crossing borders.
This will be a huge boost for people living in the more-rural areas of Ireland and will certainly be another boost to the tourism sectors across both the county and country.
For those asking: the ‘anywhere in your county’ is in addition to the 20km – you will be allowed to cross county lines to travel 20km, as well as travelling anywhere within the county boundary.— Gavan Reilly (@gavreilly) June 5, 2020
The news comes after Leo Varadkar confirmed that the country will move into Phase 2 of the easing of the restrictions from this Monday.
The advice is expected to now turn to #StayLocal, but we also must remember to stay vigilant as this virus is not gone yet.
