Wexford Native Wins Hurler Of The Year For DCU Freshers Team

With talent like this coming through, Wexford’s future is exciting..

A Wexford native has won the Fresher’s Hurler of the Year award for his college team, Dublin City University. As you could guess, the freshers hurlers are the hurlers in their first year of college only.

Niall Murphy, a Ferns St Aidans club-man, won the individual honour from DCU.

The news was announced this evening via a Twitter post from DCU’s where they congratulated the young Wexford man on winning the award.

Over the past number of years, strong Wexford contingents have lined out for DCU’s Fitzgibbon Cup team and it’s likely that this trend will continue into the future. With Wexford players playing at such a high level with their university teams, it will only serve to improve the standard of hurling in Wexford.
