It’s a new year and Wexford GAA are set to release a new jersey in 2022…
As reported on Wexford Weekly last week, Wexford GAA are planning to release a new hurling and football jersey for the upcoming season.
They plan to release the jersey in Spring of 2022.
At a Wexford GAA Management Committee Meeting which took place last night, Gavin O’Donovan, Wexford GAA’s CEO/Operations Manager, provided an update:
“A new home jersey is due to be launched in February/ March 2022 and design options are being explored currently,” he said.
The news had been confirmed by O’Neills, who manafacture Wexford’s GAA jerseys.
On the O’Neills website, a space has been left empty for a ‘new jersey coming soon’.
Some of Wexford’s jerseys have also been placed on a 20% sale. The tag above the jersey shows that there’s a ‘New Jersey Spring 22’ to be released which is one reason for the sale.
The Wexford jersey on sale via the O’Neills website was first released in December 2019 when new sponsor Zurich came on board to support the Wexford hurlers and footballers.
The Zurich-sponsored Wexford home jersey received wide-acclaim, both from inside and outside of the county. It was widely supported as it had incorporated a basic, yet a stylish jersey synonymous with Wexford jerseys of the past.
Over the years, Wexford GAA had also released a number of popular training and alternate jerseys. They included a blue training jersey, a silver-training jersey, a health-care worker jersey, and a unique alternate jersey.
Their previous releases have followed a pattern and could suggest one thing; it’s that Wexford GAA will take another bold approach with the release of their new jersey in 2022.
For most fans, the most important thing is that they proudly dress themselves in the purple and gold colours of Wexford.
