Vigil Being Held In Wexford On Friday For Ashling Murphy

The news about Ashling Murphy had sent shockwaves across the country…

Ashling Murphy, a young primary school teacher, was murdered in Tullamore on Thursday. The news sent shockwaves throughout Ireland and abroad.

Schools across the country have issued their own posts, stating that ‘She just went for a run’. Ashling’s death has also sparked discussion around the safety of women in society and how many women in today’s society live in a constant state of fear.

Vigils will be taking place across the country tomorrow, including at Dail Eireann. A vigil is also taking place in Wexford town tomorrow, Friday 14th, in memory of Ashling Murphy.

The socially-distanced event will take place on Wexford’s Quay front, Friday, at 4pm. Those attending the memorial are encouraged to wear face masks and to follow public health advice.
